What to look for in an eye drop reminder app
A plain alarm app can get you to the right time. But once you have several drops, or you are managing them for months, it is worth checking whether an app was actually built for eye drops.
First, a separate schedule per drug
Drops differ in daily count, which eye they go in, when they start and how long they last. Putting all of that into one alarm's title looks fine at first and falls apart as soon as you add another bottle.
Second, a completion record
'The reminder went off' and 'I actually put the drop in' are not the same thing. A day-by-day record matters most when a family member is helping, or when you want to look back before an appointment.
Third, a check on the gap between drops
People on two or more drops are often told to leave about five minutes. Having the app check that for you cuts down on mistakes in a rushed morning.
Fourth, room for your eye health record
If you have glaucoma, eye pressure readings help; after surgery, notes on symptoms do. When your dosing record and your eye records live in separate places, neither is easy to find later.
